This week we experimented with Play-Doh and learned how to properly measure ingredients. The challenge was to create four as-close-to-exact-as-possible blobs of 1/4 teaspoons of play doh. Then they squooshed the four blobs into one blob to see if it fit "perfectly" in the 1 teaspoon. Then they took that 1 teaspoon of Play-Doh and created four 1/4 teaspoons from it to see the relationship.This helped with measuring but more importantly it helped them visualize fractions up and down. We did this a few times with different conversions. Ex; 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon.
