Fun with Food at Ivy League Montessori!!!

In this class we made something yummy! We replaced a bunch of processed ingredients with whole, real food to create SUPER POWER COOKIE BALLS. We used whole wheat flour, rolled oats, butter, cinnamon, vanilla, flax seed, hemp seed, flax seed and of course, mini chocolate chips. Everyone learned how to measure ingredients, how to create a given number of cookies from a small batch of dough, and how to create multiple variations with the same dough base.
We also had recipe variations- one with vegan butter, one with no oats and one that was gluten free. We looked at the differences in the texture of the dough and the moisture content and tweaked the recipes as they went. They were all fantastic!

Everyone picked one to eat at the end of the class and decided they were deeelish and they'd make them again! I always find it interesting to see the variations each student comes up with. Everyone has the same ingredients and same resources but creativity is endless!
